The program manager and the technical committee members meet with the community/traditional leaders, religious clerics, youth leaders, women leaders, and persons with disabilities in the Six (6) Northeastern States. Contacts have been made with the invitees of the program with positive commitments.
In Bauchi State, the district volunteer residing at Ningi and Katagum LGAs of Bauchi secured the support of INEC at local government levels in Ningi and Katagum local government areas, respectively.
Advocacy visitations was carried out to some traditional rulers such as the district head of Azare, and Gari in Bauchi state. The zonal youth leaders across the 3 senatorial districts are also present at the meeting in Bauchi North, (Babayo Garba Zaki, Muhammad Chiroma Giade, Dahiru Muhammad Jama, Aminu Shehu Shira, Happy Johnson Job, Dada Ludiya Itas, and Abdussalam Shabiri Katagum), also give their commitment and assurances that political thuggery will not be the yardstick of campaigns this time and around and that they will try as much as they can to cascade the information down to their youths and look for amicable ways to settle things rather than resulting to violence. Security personnel also assured to provide adequate security during the activities and in the course of campaigns by political parties in a neutral manner.
In Yobe state, Advocacy visitation was conducted targeting the Bulama of Abari Samiya by the name Bakura Abubakar. The VNF campaign objectives was pitched to him, and in addition to soliciting his support, he welcomed the initiative and as well pledged his full support and commitment to the cause of the VNF as a community leader. He also reaffirmed his commitment when being invited to the CPT program verbally. He gives full assurance that he would be part of the program, and henceforth, he will aid in cascading the VNF campaign goals and messages.
In Gombe state, similar visitation was carried out to the women group. The target was a coalition of women named “Gona Mother’s Group”. This group comprises different local women groups such as the “Danliti”, “Matan Bolaki”, “Balubi” and the list of other groups mostly found within the Dukku local government area of Gombe.
