CPPLI on the 19th of July, 2022, secured funding for a governance project titled “Vote Not Fight” (Election No Be War) campaign, to be implemented across the six (6) Northeastern states of Nigeria from National Democratic Institute (NDI).The project is expected to start on the 1st of August, 2022 to 31st of March, 2023. The project is also expected to target the inclusivity of youths, women, persons with disabilities, and other minority populations. One of the project objectives is to secure the commitments of political candidates for a peaceful and non violent 2023 general elections.
The project manager “Hassan Mathias Kabulu” speaking on the general goals of the project highlighted that the project will also ensure that political candidates include the mandates of Women, Youths, and PWDs into their political agenda. This was made necessary in order to capture the interest of all citizens in the country. The project is also going to create awareness, and sensitization on civic and voter education through peer mobilization, workshops, and trainings, town hall meetings, and community peace talk programs.
